New Sewing Project at Anaparthi village.

Shoshana started a sewing project at Anaparthi village from March-2017.
For women who come from backward communities and low economic background.
The women who are interested and eligible for the free class are selected the local society along with the sewing instructor .

Anaparthi is purely an agricultural village. Majority of the population depend on agriculture. Main crops are chilli and cotton farming. Since the crops are seasonal, women depending on agriculture  have regular work only for half a year.  There is no alternate work for them because of their low education.

Most of the women who joined the class are school drop outs because of many reasons like early marriages,  have to support the families in working or forced to take care  of the domestic chores or take care of siblings at home while the parents are working.


For these seasonal workers, on the request of the local society,  Shoshana came forward to start a sewing centre at Anaparthi village and help them in getting free training in tailoring and embroidery courses so that they could as well have an alternate work.

Mrs.Sivakumari the sewing instructor from Pedanandipadu village took initiative in conducting special classes for the needy women in Anaparthi village.

Shoshana has 16 medical projects in three districts like Prakasam, Guntur and Krishna. The newest one is the  17^th medical project started recently at Maha Lakshmi colony,Chinaganjam village in Prakasam Dt for  tribal fishermen community.

Basic First aid care, providing free medication to the patients, blood pressure and sugar testing.  

Awareness of hygiene and educating them to take care of the disease in initial stages. Specially for needy elderly people and children who are in need of constant medical help.

New Medical Project Inuguration - China ganjam village

First aid help for the backward tribal community at Mahalakshmi colony, China ganjam village. For needy people who are especially fishermen, scavengers, richshaw pullers etc.

There are more than 900 people living in the colony.

Besides the other basic facilities,

absence of primary health care is also felt by the elderly people as they have more need for medication and regular medical help. They have to travel long distance to reach the nearby pharmacy or a clinic.

Colony elders gave part of their community building to use for the medical centre.

 Mrs.Deepthi, the new nurse at the project. Unfortunately she recently lost her husband and left with two kids. Unemployed staying with her parents.

Her mother Mrs.Rajakumari is also a nurse and she has been working with Shoshana for more than 10 years now.

The local society people decided to take Deepthi as a nurse so that she could give regular medical help to the needy people of Mahalakshmi colony as well as help herself  in taking care of her family.

The new group of women started their free stitching classes from December- 2016. Shoshana along with the sewing instructor Mrs.Siva kumari decided to have only 5 new students for the morning batch and in the afternoon the sewing project continues to work as a tailor shop with some women from previous batches to work as apprentice.

This helps the women to earn some money as well as get enough practice before starting their own shop.

The instructor Mrs.Sivakumari has students from different villages. Especially the needy women from Anaparthi village are requesting to conduct free sewing classes for them in their village.  Anaparthi is 5km away from Pedanandipadu. The instructor is planning to conduct special classes to the needy women from Anaparthi either in the evenings or on the weekends depending on the time adjustment since many of them are daily workers in tobacco and chilli fields.

Shoshana Medical Centre, Rosaiah colony, Chirala.


Rosaiah colony is in the outskirts of Chirala town towards the Ramapuram beach.
Its an agricultual area away from the town. Initially the Government alloted land for the poor backward tribal people in this area to build houses and form a colony but slowly all kinds of people from the town also started moving to this area.

Most of the houses in this colony are Government built. Single room houses.People with different occupations like fishermen, rickshaw pullers and agricultural workers.

Shoshana recently started its first aid medical help in this area for the tribal community.

Because of poor sanitation diseases like malarial fevers, diarrhea are more in this area.
