Visit of Shoshana Sewing Centre, Giripuram, Vijayawada.

Pics from Giripuram, Vijayawada.

The local society named Good Shepherd Mission in association with Shoshana-Germany has been working for the last 11 years in doing several social activities which are necessary in that area.

The main focus is on educating needy women in different handicraft skills which are necessary for their self help like tailoring, painting& embroidery, dyeing, candle making etc.

Besides these they also have a Day care centre,

widow pensions and medical support in a very small range.

Instructor Hemima with her present batch of students

Hemima is the tailoring instructor. She is a Graduate in Accounting. Her family ,right from her father's time has been in various social activities in that area and so she always has a heart for the poor.

Encouraging them, helping them finding a job after finishing the training and also supporting them in setting up their own business.
Many of her previous students from that area are successful in their work but the only sad part is most of the women here are taking up the responsibility of the entire family since men are alchoholics and drug addicts. Some women are victims of domestic violence and chronic diseases.
Medical support is also very much needed in this area. So far the instructor herself along with her family is helping them to buy medication but there are still many people who are in desperate need of medical help.

Shoshana took the responsibility of supporting a women who needs  surgery . She is a diabetic patient, still under medication and waiting for the surgery.
Still many cases who are in need of help.
