Hai,

Want to share a few pics from our recently started Medical project at Burlavaripalem village.

Agricultural village. The Medical centre is open all the time since the nurse Mrs.Mariamma is staying in the same house. Came to know from her that she has more patients in the morning and in the evening.

Mean time she is making house visits if there is a need to attend bed ridden patients.

Majority of the people are agricultural labourers. Most complaints are for body pains, Gastric problems because of their irregular eating habits and weakness.

Slowly started interacting with the village people to find out their problems and to give them general health tips besides medication.

Inuguration of new Sewing Project at Chilakaluripet

Inuguration of new Sewing Centre at Chilakaluripet.

Hai Friends,

Glad to inform that we had the opportunity to open one more project in this month. This time it is a Sewing project in Chilakaluripet town.

We already have one sewing and embroidery project at Sugali colony, Chilakaluripet. This one is the second project which is at Kasu Vengal reddy Nagar, Chilakaluripet.

The request for the project in this area came to us through one of our sewing projects in Guntur. We did the survey to find the possibility of starting this training for women for their self help.

Benny Kumari ( Tailoring instructor)

The instructor Mrs.Benny kumari has been working as a tailor in this area for many years and she has enough experience in teaching some women.

The instructor Mrs.Benny kumari took time in selecting the needy women who are interested and formed a group of 10 women for this batch of training class.

Women are mostly in age group of 16 - 30 yrs of age. Housewives and seasonal workers.
Had an interaction with them to find out their family background details, their interests and their plans in future. For me all seem to be happy and interested in getting an opportunity to have a free class.

Inuguration of New Medical Centre, Burlavaripalem village.

Hai,

Very happy to inform that yesterday i.e 2/1/15 we had the inuguration of our new Medical Project at Burlavaripalem Village. It comes under Prakasam District.

Our first new project for this year. We had the gathering in the evening time with the local pastor and the village elders belonging to the Harijan waada where we opened the Medical Centre.

Mrs.Dr.P.Radha Rani inugurated the Medical Centre. She is a General Physician working in U.K. She is very much interested to work in rural slums when ever she visits India. She is very happy with the services Shoshana has been giving in rural slums where there is no possibility for any medical help. She promised that she would give her support in helping the needy people in rural areas .

The villager elders chose Mrs.Mariyamma as the nurse for the medical centre. She is from the same village so is familiar with all the people. Village elders thought she would take good care of the people.

NEW APPLICATION FOR MEDICAL CENTRE – BURLAVARI PALEM

Request for Medical project came from Harijan waada, Burla vari palem.
Burlavaripalem is a village which is 7kms from Chirala town.
It has both Hindu and Christian communities but the request for medical help came specially from the Harijan wada which is mostly with Christians.

Harijanwaada has around 500 houses with 2000 people. Majority are daily workers in Paddy and corn fields and  few have cattle so selling milk is also an income source for some people.

There is no medical facility in this area like medical shop or primary health centre. The nearest medicine availability is 3kms from the village.

The villagers looked for a nurse from their area itself. Name of the nurse is Mrs.Mariyamma. 40 yrs of age. She is working in a private hospital in Chirala. Her husband is also a daily worker. She has 2 daughters and one son.

She is from this area and she is familiar with all the people here. People come up to her sometimes when they need injections or first aid help so the villagers thought she would take  good medical care for the people.

Mrs.Martha, M.D of Shoshana, Germany has been to this area in her recent visit and she approved to open regular medical support in this area so depending on the room availability for the centre and other arrangements, we are going to open the centre as soon as possible.

Wheel chair

In response to our post regarding the help for one of our beneficiaries at Shoshana sewing project, Pedanandipadu, one of the friends from Germany donated money to purchase a wheel chair.

Ravanamma, student from Shoshana sewing project, pedanandipadu. Shoshana sponsored a Grinder for her husband who is handicapped for his self help so that he could use it and earn some money with it.

Government gave him a wheel cart for his transport but it is quite big for him to move around in the house.  So inorder to make it easy for him to work inside the house, Shoshana purchased a wheel chair for him.

Special thanks to the German lady from Shoshana for this special help .

Shoshana medical project, Swarna

Last project visit of Martha for this year-2014. We visited Swarna village yesterday and few pics from the Shoshana medical project.

The village - Swarna is surrounded by paddy fields. Main occupation here is agriculture. Both men and women work in fields. Besides most of the people have cattle at home. Selling milk is also one of the occupations.

Medical project is  located in one of the backward areas of Swarna where most people are agricultural labourers. On the outskirts of the village, far away from the  medical shop and hospital and the middle of the village is where all the high caste Hindus live.

Raju, Nurse checking the diabetic patient with a sugar testing kit

People have trust on the nurse and even though he is working at one of the medical centres in Chirala , he is very happy to take care of the needy people in Swarna too.

People here in this area are very happy to have the medical support and besides medication free blood sugar  and B.P check ups are quite helpful for them.
