Majority of these women are agricultural workers.

The women in these villages have no formal education and therefore no access to decent well paying jobs and vocational skills like sewing hold an important alternative.

The sewing instructor Mrs.Sivakumari is running a tailoring shop besides teaching the women and she has some of her former students as helpers in her shop and they work together and they share their profit so  women will have an opportunity  to have more practice before starting their own business at home.

Shoshana sewing projects find out needy women and teach them sewing and embroidery skills
and provide them with a sewing machine, help them start their own tailoring business like
making dresses, doing repairs and alterations so that they earn a daily income, provide basic
necessities to their families and send their children to school.

A sewing machine is one of the simplest and most effective resource to give  a needy woman to help build her self confidence and empower her to earn a respectable living as a tailor and support her family.

As their skills improve, their profits will grow right along with them.

This is the reason Shoshana has been running sewing projects supporting

hundreds of needy women giving proper training for about an year in both

tailoring and embroidery so that the women can help themselves as well as their families.

Our Managing Director - Shoshana Mrs.Martha B Foerch visited our Projects in India for the year 2019.She came all the way from America. Though it is a very long and tiresome journey she managed to come to see the projects and to find out their needs and what Shoshana could do for their welfare and to get to know their success stories.

We started our project visits from 28/10/19 and we already saw a few Medical and Sewing Projects in Guntur and Prakasam Districts.

We have majority of our medical projects in rural areas so we have some cases of viral infections and here and there some dengue cases especially during the rainy season. Our nurses are working all day long giving  medical services to the patients and are ready with necessary medication.
