SHOSHANA SEWING PROJECT, PANDARIPURAM - CHILAKALURIPET

Started especially for the tribal community women who migrated to Pandaripuram, Chilakaluripet from northern region of Andhra Pradesh in search of work. They were generally building and road construction coolies, rickshaw pullers, daily workers in a tobacco company etc. They used in live in roadside small temporary shelters later Government provided them with basic housing.

In order to give the women an alternate living source, Shoshana started a sewing centre in this area in the year 2006. Since then more than 400 women got both tailoring and embroidery training at the sewing centre. Majority of them are working and helping themselves and their families.

This is possible only with the continuous support from many of the German friends and local societies are also going hand in hand with them.

Besides the regular sewing class, these women also asked for the basic embroidery class.
