Lately there is a sudden rise of Corona positive cases all over the country. Some parts are partially lock down again and here in our Telugu states, Telangana and Andhra pradesh schools and colleges are temporarily closed because of the rise of cases in educational institutions.

Vaccination process started. Here Covaxin and Covishield are two types of vaccines given out to the people. The elderly people are at more risk so they are given first.

From our medical projects, we are giving out vitamins, sanitizers to the needy people besides the regular medications. Taking proper precautions in trying to control the spread of the virus.

Sharing the pics from Shoshana Sewing Project - Nagaralu - Guntur

One of the most Covid effected sewing project. Majority of the women got affected and luckily everyone recovered. Slowly the situations are changing here and the people are getting used to the new normal and all the projects of Shoshana are running normally again.  New women are coming to join the free tailoring classes and here is the new group of women at Shoshana sewing project - Nagaralu.

Mrs. Vasantha(Instructor) with the new group of women

These women are from the surrounding areas of Nagaralu. Most of them are housewives and eager to start their own tailor shops at home. Having a low education background, only tailoring course seems to be a good opportunity for them to have an income source for their self help as well as they could support the family.

Sharing a story of one of the beneficiaries of Shoshana

Anitha, one of the former students of Shoshana sewing centre, Vijayawada. Her husband was a tailor . After finishing her free sewing class at Shoshana, she joined her husband in running the tailor shop at home. She has 2 boys and elderly in-laws to look after.

Unfortunately her husband had a brain stroke and paralysed partially. He couldn't work .The family responsibility is on her now. She also was detected with cancer and she is undergoing treatment now. With the family responsibility and growing medical expenses, she is in debts.

Besides having her regular sewing machine she requested for a zigzag machine, with which she could earn some extra income. Recently Shoshana provided her with a zigzag machine.

Heartful thanks to all the donors who made it possible to help a needy women in not only giving a free sewing class but also helping her in running her family at this difficult time.

Shoshana Sewing Centre, Pedanandipadu

Present group of women for sewing class at Shoshana sewing project - Pedanandipadu village

Started last year - now towards the end of the course. Blouse stitching usually taught at the end of the course.  The women after they start working on their own, they could earn 150 to 200 rupees per piece if they are good in making models.

Many people lost their work during the lockdown and there is still decrease in man power in many factories, companies etc due to Corona.

The sewing course has been a good  source of income for these needy women especially during these difficult times where they couldn't find any other work.

Shoshana Medical Project - Dasaripalem - Guntur

Dasaripalem is one of the remote areas in Guntur. Large area with more than a thousand families mostly with backward communities like daily workers and agricultural labourers. Shoshana started the medical help at Dasaripalem along with a local Ngo who is working for children's education.

Shoshana is providing basic medication along with free Blood pressure checkups under the supervision of a trained nurse. Since the area is far away from the city, without proper roads and transport facility, having a first aid centre is very helpful for the people. In my last visit, came across women who are in need of diabetic check ups and medication.

During the lockdown time also the medical centre was open to the people who are in need of help.

Thankful to all the donors for keeping faith in our work and have been supporting the needy people all these years.

Pictures from Shoshana Medical Project - Karamchedu

Post the lock down the number of Corona cases in Karamchedu, decreased compared to the previous months. Few people got infected but there were no deaths in this area. People are now getting used to the situation and also who are tested positive are home quarantined and getting treated at home.

People seems to be  not very much scared about the total situation and getting along with the new normal.

Our Medical Project in Karamchedu has been working continuously through the whole time with taking necessary precautions and now people are using the medical help as usual. Majority of the people who come for help are diabetic and high blood pressure patients. The nurse Mrs. Prasanna is giving them free B.P check ups and providing medication as per the doctor's prescription.

Shoshana Medical Project - Giripuram, Vijayawada.

It is a close and thickly populated area in Vijayawada with people working on daily wages. Very much affected during the Corona times. People were struggling for daily needs and  medical supplies.

We took care that majority of our Shoshana medical centres were open at that time, faced some opposition from the local people but still we continued to supply the necessary medication to the needy.

Especially to homeless and slum dwellers, basic health care was needed to prevent virus contamination in such areas.

As the same time Psychologically supporting our health workers  who are more vulnerable to Covid infection and having fear of falling ill due to contact with infected people.

Now it is slowly getting to normal again and people started working and taking the necessary medical help without much fear.
