NEW APPLICATION FOR SEWING PROJECT: PASUMARRU

Request for sewing project came from Vengal reddy nagar, Pasumarru. Pasumarru village is 5km away from Chilakaluripet town. We already have a Tailoring and Embroidery centre at Chilakaluripet.  Ie have pictures of this project in my previous posts.

Now the request for the sewing project is referred by the instructor at Shoshana sewing project, Nagaralu area, Guntur.

Details of the instructor:

Name of the instructor is Mrs. Benny kumari.

Thirty eight years of age, married. She is a school drop out and her husband is a plumber.

She has two children. 1boy and 1 girl. She is living in a small , own house

She has been working as a tailor for the last 10 years in that area. Besides being a tailor, she is also taking stiching classes to few women.

Not as a regular teaching course but teaching them only the specific ones the women ask for.

Having heard about the free training class run at Nagaralu, she also thought of contacting us to find out the possibility of opening a centre in her area too for one batch.  

It is a middle class area with mostly agricultural workers. Women/girls who are housewives or school drop outs have the possibility of taking free class which would be an alternative income for them besides going as daily workers.

Since it is not a very small village, there would be a chance for them to start their own work individually after finishing the course.

Benny kumari who herself comes from a needy family will have a job as an instructor as well as teaching a few more needy women for their self help.

Shoshana Medical Project, Railway area , Chirala.

Started as a temporary medical support more like one of our nurses giving out medicine on his bicycle on the request of some of the people in that area but later turned into a regular first aid centre with a permanent room facility.
Zuerst fingen wir mit einer mobilen Clinic an und haben es im Lauf der Zeit zu einem konstanten Medical Center gemacht.

Some people from Chirala town took initiative in providing room for the medical centre which is also used for sunday church service.
People here are still living in very unhygienic conditions. Mostly rag pickers, rickshaw pullers are living here. Because of unhealthy habits and surroundings ,people mostly children are sick most of
the time.
Das MC Gebäude wird sonntags als Gottesdienstraum genutzt, welches von einigen Leuten in Chirala gespendet wurde.
Die Menschen hier sind meistens Lumpensammler und Rickshaw Fahrer. Sie leben in sehr ärmlichen und unhygienischen  Bedingungen und Kinder leiden deshalb besonders an Krankheiten.

Even though Shoshana is giving medical support in that area, people need to be encouraged and educated  to come out of the trash. It might take a few years for them to mix with the society and lead a clean life.
Shoshana gibt medizinische Hilfe, aber die Leute müssen auch ermutigt und unterrichtet werden, dass sie auf Dauer nicht in dem Abfall leben können. Es wird wahrscheinlich noch einige Jahre dauern bis das geschieht.

Visit to Shoshana Medical Projects in and around Chirala

Shoshana Medical Project at Epurupalem village which is in between Chirala and Bapatla town. This project especially started for weaver's community in a weavers' area later shifted to another needy Christian area.

Yesterday we visited that area. We had a special program of distributing mosquito nets. Mosquitos problem is more in this season and people are more prone to diseases related to mosquito bites. Some people requested for nets this time besides the regular medication.Since our M.D Mrs.Martha is in town the medical centre thought of  giving out nets to the concerned people in her presence.

Since there are many diabetic patients in that area we specially started giving out free sugar check ups and  providing medication to some limited patients according to the their doctor's prescription.

Besides these the nurse had some regular patients. The nurse Ms.Buela rani is a skilled nurse and is very good in dealing with different patients.

Yesterday i was telling about the medical project and here are a few pics from sewing projects too.

Had an interaction with the women and they showed the samples they made and a few special bags which they made for the donors.

Took time to explain them how to use the free class to improve their skill which is for their own betterment and settlement and for the instructors, to supervise it more so the students can learn from their mistakes.

Visit to Shoshana projects in Narasaraopet

Hello

It was a busy day visiting all the three projects of Shoshana in Narasaraopet.

Two sewing projects at Shalem nagar and Navodaya nagar and one medical project at the entrance of Narasaraopet.

Siva prasad colony which is one of the needy areas with majority daily workers. Even though they have Government hospital in the main town, it is far from the immediate first aid help. Having a primary medical help seems very useful to the people here.
 Met the nurse Mrs.Padmavathi and satisfied with her way of taking care of the patients.

 One of the patients explaining his problem and symtoms which are similar to Leprosy and the nurse being worked in a leprosy hospital near yelamandha village before suggested him to  visit that hospital for better treatment.

Visited our sewing projects in Guntur.

Around 18 students were about to finish their tailoring and embroidery training classes from both the sewing projects which are located at Rajiv Gandhi Nagar and Venkatapaiah colony, Guntur.

She is Mandha.Chaitanya. One of the students of our sewing project from Rajiv Gandhi nagar, Guntur. She is 20yrs old.She joined the training class in Nov-13.She is Single when she joined the course but got married in between .She stopped the class and moved to her in-laws place which is a village near to Guntur.She is living in an area where there is not even one tailor shop. Her in laws encouraged her specially to go back to Guntur and  continue the free tailoring and embroidery classes run by Shoshana. Now she  is almost at the end of the course and she turned out quite good in stitching and embroidery. Now she is very confident in setting up her own shop and  uses the opportunity of making good work in that area where there is no other tailor available.

Students are about to finish their course. We had a very nice interaction with the women to know about their future plans and the goals they want to achieve in life. They whole heartedly appreciated the  support they are getting from Shoshana for their self help and they are very grateful towards the donors.

Our Managing Director of Shoshana, Mrs. Martha B Foerch  on her first visit to India for this year-2014 and visiting our projects started from today i.e 3rd Nov-14. Different projects and programs every day and i keep you updated with the  details and pics from time to time.

The instructors Sumathi and Swetha from Shoshana sewing project, Chilakaluripet along with their tailoring and embroidery students.

We had a chance to see their work and they recently introduced the advanced way of making embroidery work which is maggam work. Before they were using small wooden and iron frames. Now with this maggam , more  number of students working on the same piece like sarees is possible. It takes less time to finish the products and  earn more money.

After the supervision Mrs. Martha distributed training certificates to the previous students  those  finished their course. This is quite useful for them to apply for Government organizations.
