Waste picker women at Railway area, Chirala.

There are around 35 families in this area with around 200 to 250 people living in temporary shelters.

The women in this community primarily depend on waste picking for their daily income.  Their work is physically demanding, unsafe and provides very low and irregular income.  Most of the women are sole bread winners for their families and lack access to skill development opportunities that could help them achieve financial stability and dignity

To address this, we propose starting a sewing training and production unit for these women. Through this project, they will be trained in basic tailoring skills and supported with sewing machines and materials.  This initiative will enable them to earn a sustainable income by stitching garments, school uniforms, religious dresses and other utility items, thereby improving their living conditions and 

self confidence.

CDS-Shoshana Medical Centre, Ramapuram.

Shoshana started giving medical help at Rama puram for fishermen community during the tsunami in the year 2004. Many people lost lives, boats and nets which are their livelihood.  Shoshana distributed nets and other equipment for them during that time. Keeping in mind to give them a long term help, Shoshana  started a medical centre in Ramapuram.  Its been 20 years now.

A regular nurse is leading the basic health services .

Happened to meet a boy at the medical project who recently had an open heart surgery.

The boy has been suffering from serious health issues related to his heart, which required continuous medical care and surgery. Due to frequent illness, hospital visits and physical weakness, he was forced to stop his studies.

Tragically, his father passed away due to electrocution five year ago,  leaving the family without their main source of emotional and financial support.  Since then, mother is the only bread winner, struggling to manage daily household expenses, medical cost and child's recovery all on her own.

The family is facing severe financial hardship, especially after the surgery, as ongoing medicines, follow up visits and proper nutrition which are essential for his survival and recovery.  The mother's income is not sufficient to meet these  needs.

They urgently need support for post surgery care, medicines, nutrition  and to help the child resume his education once his health improves.

This medical point is part of Shoshana's health care projects towards the coast of Ramapuram.

It offers basic health assistance, first aid, minor treatments and checkups for locals who otherwise have limited access to regular medical care.

The centre has a regular nurse providing treatment for common issues, basic drugs, blood pressure/sugar checks etc
