CDS-Shoshana sewing centre, Pedanandipadu
New group of women started the sewing class from the 1st of January-2026. Ten women coming from agricultural and daily wage working background. Not much education, majority of them are school dropouts, married.
Eager to learn sewing as
sewing is ideal for them where the seasonal work is unstable, travelling long distances for work is difficult especially when they have to care for the kids at home.
After finishing the class women can sew in free hours after daily wage work, creating an additional income stream without quitting their main job or they can save money by stitchingfor their own family clothes.
Insome cases it can turn into a main source of income, not just an extra support.
They can form as a group and take larger orders together like stitching uniforms, festival clothes, NGO orders etc
With a very little investment they can start working like taking orders from tailoring shops. There are many different options to earn with dignity and independence.
